APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS SERVICES

Skill-based Assessments
Suspecting your child might be delayed? A skill-based assessment enables us to compare the child's level of functioning as opposed to their chronological age. They are not meant to be diagnostic, however they help us identify the points of strengths and weakness. Bloom owns a wide range of recent, well-researched, skill-based assessments covering areas like language, cognitive, play, social, and functional living skills. The suitable assessment is chosen based on the child's age and parents' areas of concern.

Functional Behavior Assessment
Your child shows some problem behavior? No problem! At Bloom, we follow evidnece-based procedures to identify the function of the behavior; why your child is doing what they are doing and set an intervention plan accordingly.

Problem Behavior Management
Following a functional behavior assessment, an intervention plan is set to reduce the problem behavior. At Bloom, we focus more on teaching other positive behaviors and relying on reinforcement rather than punishing the problematic behavior. Our procedures are all based on recently published research studies.

ABA Intensive Program
Our intensive program is designed to meet the needs for chidlren showing profound delay in comparison to their chronological age. The program consists of 10 therapy hours/week (as recommended by research) focusing on foundational learning skills, including but not limited to; communication, play and basic cognitive skills. The intensity allows children more time to practice the skills they need as opposed to individual sessions.

One-on-one Sessions
Our individual one-on-one sessions are designed for children showing some minor delays and deficits. The sessions are scheduled for a minimum of 2 hours/week and are specifically tailored to meet the areas of deficit.

Self-Help Skills
You do not have to worry about potty training any more! At Bloom, we teach children to wash their hands independently and use the toilet, besides any other self-help skill of your choice.

Augmentative & Alternative Communication
If your child is not talking yet, or if they have a diagnosis inhibiting proper articulation (e.g., Apraxia), we got you covered! We are experienced at teaching children to communicate using multiple alternative methods including the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Makaton Signs. Research shows that AAC increases the child's chance of speaking vocally, eventually, if there are no biological barriers.

Food Selectivity
Do you have to chase your child with food? Do they reject certain types of foods and give you a hard time eating? Our feeding sessions are designed to teach children to tolerate experimenting with new types of food and aim to have them willingly consume new foods. All our feeding procedures rely on systematic desensitization and creating a positive experience with the new food, rather than force feeding.

Pre-academics
For children about to join school, or those already in kindergaten, our pre-academic program is designed to allow them to learn the foundational academic skills needed.

Social Groups
We offer social groups (based on availability) if we have more than one client of relatively close skill level and chronological age that need to practice social skills. Social groups teach children skills like waiting, turn taking, sharing, understanding emotions and group play.

Caregivers Training
We work collaboratively with the child's caregivers to ensure behavior change procedures are implemented consistently to achieve the optimum results.

School & Nursery Visits
Whenever warranted, our team will observe your child in his natural environment, set interventions for the classroom and collaborate with your child's teachers to reach the desired outcomes across settings.
